Spring Cleaning on a Budget!

Spring has sprung ya’ll! And you know what that means?! Spring cleaning time! I’m going to be totally honest with you, I have never once in my life attempted to spring clean. Yikes, I know. How sad is that? You know what though, honesty is the best policy when it comes to my readers and I’m just keeping it real! With my word for the year being “change”, I decided one of the things I’d love to change about myself is organization in my household.

To start off my spring cleaning, I decided to tackle two jobs I knew I could handle if I just took the time to get it done, organizing my closet and cleaning the bathroom grout. Both jobs I’ve been meaning to do for some time now. Usually I make excuses for cleaning and of course it just stays the same, messy and unorganized. Now, when I show you the before and after pictures, don’t judge! I’m a busy mom and it’s better late than never when it comes to cleaning am I right?

Cleaning the Bathroom Grout

I decided to take on the grout first, seemed like the easier job. And honestly, it took me maybe 15 minutes TOTAL! Here’s what I used and how I did it.

Spring Cleaning on a Budget

As you can see, the grout obviously needs major work done. I headed to the 99 Cents Only store, because they have every cleaning supply you need to get your spring cleaning done. So to clean my grout, I paid a whopping $3. I kid you not. I purchased the necessary latex gloves, a scrubbing brush to get into the icky grout, and some tile grout cleaner. At any other department store, I’d be looking at at LEAST $10 for these three items.

Again, don’t judge me please! I rarely pay attention to my own bathroom and bedroom as far as cleanliness. *Lowers head in embarrassment*

Okay so with his grout cleaner, I sprayed it on and let it sit for 5 minutes, per the instructions.

Then I started scrubbing! After I finished scrubbing all of the grout down, I wiped it with a wet sponge and voila! The light grey grout was back and beautiful.

Before and After Grout Cleaner from 99 Cent Only Store!

Not only did I see a huge amount of dirt come off, my grout looks amazing and the cleaner only cost a whopping 99 cents, so glad I went to The 99! How much would this have cost me had I gone one of the chain stores or had a professional do it?! I don’t even want to think about it.. lol. Okay, now that I had my bathroom floor looking fantastic, it was time to enter the closet. The dreaded MESSY, DISASTROUS  closet!

Organizing the Closet

Spring Cleaning on a Budget!

I hope and pray I am not the only one who has a closet that looks like this. I mean, this is reality right here. We all don’t have closets that look like they’ve been made over by Chip and Joanna Gaines! I wish…  😉 So here was our reality. A closet that was simply a location to dump a bunch of crap. What I hate is how I was wasting so much shelf space by filling it up with my purses and clothes that needed to be donated or stored in the garage. I feel like spring cleaning in the closet is about getting rid of winter clothes and accessories that take up a ton of space.

So here’s what I used and how I organized my closet in a breeze! I purchased 3 vacuum seal bags to store all of my big bulky jackets and sweaters, 2 storage containers to roll up and store my scarves, and one package of shower curtain rings to hang all of my purses on.

And the after pictures are quite stunning of you ask me..

I removed all of the winter clothing that was taking up space and I knew I wouldn’t be using for months. That cleared up a lot of space. I used the vacuum seal bags and they worked like a charm! I fit at least 6 sweaters in one bag. And yes, each bag was only 99 cents. At other department stores you’d be looking at MUCH more. I also removed all of my scarves that were hanging on like 3 hangers taking up tons of space and placed them in the storage bins I got from The 99. Amazingly, they all fit! Then last but not least, I placed all of my purses on the shower curtain rings and filled up that empty wasted space.

Organizing your closet

I thought getting my spring cleaning done on a budget was going to be really difficult, but not when done at the 99! The 99 is a great place to find all your spring needs on a budget.

The 99 is filled with so many goodies, and you don’t ever have to feel guilty about spending a ton of money when you leave. The 99 Cents Only stores have all of your favorite name brands at a price that can’t be beat.

Spring cleaning on a budget

Not only does the 99 have a ton of cleaning supplies, they also have party supplies, toys, fresh produce, and so much more! Can you believe that? I actually had no clue they had fresh produce. There is always something new and exciting at the 99. You never know what you’ll find when you “do the 99“! Now that I know how much money I can save shopping here, I’m never buying groceries anywhere else. Guys, you don’t have to be wealthy to eat healthy!

I couldn’t believe how much I found in that store. I left with everything I needed for my spring cleaning and only spent a whopping $17. Plus, I have to mention I got a bunch of other items that had nothing to do with my spring cleaning, lol. But I couldn’t resist. I bought bobby pins, tissue paper, a toy car for my son, some soap, and some colorful straws that came in a cute, bright dispenser.

So all in all, my spring cleaning which consisted of organizing my closet and cleaning my bathroom grout cost me less than $10. That my friends is how you do the 99!

Now it’s time to ask my lovely readers, how do you guys “do the 99”?! Comment below and tell me about all of the awesome finds you have come across at the 99 Cents Only store.

  11. Great tips and ideas. I really need to think about cleaning up my closet. My closet doubles as part of my office storage. It’s a bit of a disaster.

  12. Oh my goodness… Your floors look like mine… the color… and I have the same coach bag… but I really did enjoy your blog… I seem to find myself at Wally World or the Dollar Store… for the life of me, i can’t figure out why it is called that because I rarely find anything in there for a dollar… anyways… I oftentimes end up spending an obscene amount of money and I know my bill is way more than $17.28.. I guess I should visit my local Dollar Tree and see what I can get for a dollar… thanks for sharing and everything looks great… only have one questions… can you please come clean my closet?!? Stay Blessed Queen
