Some of you may remember me mentioning in previous posts that it was going to be our 10th wedding anniversary coming up. My husband and I decided to take a trip to the Bay Area and do some sight seeing. Even though I’m a California girl born and raised, I’ve never been to any of these places until now.
To start off our trip, we decided to go north of San Francisco and visit wine country. If you drive about an hour north, you will hit endless wineries and vineyards as far as the eye can see. Healdsburg, Ca was our first stop. We ended up at Dry Creek General Store to get some freshly made sandwiches before heading to a local picnic sight where you can sit and enjoy the views.
This place is just beautiful. If you are driving past, you must stop here! Once you step inside this store, you’re smothered by unique, quirky, CUTE home goodies. Not to mention the deli! The sandwiches are to die for, and are FRESHLY made.
Once we had our sandwiches in hand, we headed right up the street to Family Wineries Dry Creek. You drive up a steep little road and there you’ll find some tucked away picnic tables with some pretty drop dead gorgeous views of the vineyard. Another fun little addition to this location is the bocce ball court right there by the tables. They also have the perfect backgrounds for some awesome pictures.
See, this is the coolest red barn you’ve ever seen, am I right?
Once we finished our lunch, we decided to head out towards Goat Rock State Beach which is just about an hour drive from the vineyard. On the way, we spotted an amazing fox statue at Wilson Wineries and had to take advantage of the photo op!
What’s even cooler about this guy is that you can climb INSIDE of him! They have a ladder and everything 🙂
My husband was brave enough, I wasn’t! Lol This winery also has some breathtaking views as well.
The drive to Goat Rock from the winery is filled with meadows and valleys that are full green right now from all of the northern California rain. Spring is definitely the time to visit! If it’s not raining..
With the unique rocks sticking out from everywhere, Goat Rock brings some pretty incredible sights. You travel down a small road on the side of a hill which can be a bit scary at some moments, but the end result is totally worth it!
And here she is folks! Goat Rock. I know, gorgeous. What even more awesome is that you can drive down the hill right in front of the rock and walk around.
The rocks that are everywhere makes this beach something I’ve never seen before. My husband said it was like we were in New Zealand where they shot Lord of the Rings! 😆
The sand at this beach was an interesting grey color. Again, have never seen this before at a Cali beach. Was a nice change from the seaweed filled beaches elsewhere!! Look how clean it is!
Here’s a picture that’s a little more up close and personal with the rock. This is where you are able to park and get out and walk around. Right in front!
These rocks were everywhere, I swear it was just amazing.
Little birdie snuck into this picture!
So the husband accidentally took this shot and I actually liked it 🙂
On the way back to Santa Rosa, Ca (where we stayed for the night) we stopped at a local coffee shop called Gold Coast Coffee & Bakery to get some baked treats. It did NOT disappoint, It was the cutest little place where you could go out back, sit, enjoy the scenery and sip your coffee. I highly recommend!
Now that I have your mouth watering for coffee and goodies, tell me your favorite place to visit in Northern California! Have you ever been to Cali before? Comment below and share to your little hearts content!
