A Prayer for the Worrisome Heart

Lately I have been talking a lot about worry and stress that we sometimes face in our lives. We all have some, but it’s up to us to combat those feelings and emotions. (Preaching to myself here!) Prayer is my go-to source for comfort. As it should be.

There are many, MANY verses in the Bible that tell us we need to come to God with our needs, our worries, and just our everyday thoughts. He is there ready and willing to listen.

1 John 5:15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have what we asked of Him.

Ephesians 6:18 And pray in the spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Jeremiah 29:12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.

James 5:13 Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise.

Psalm 17:6 I call on You my God, for You will answer me; turn Your ear to me and hear my prayer.

Psalm 4:1 Answer me when I call to you my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; have mercy on me and hear my prayer.

Again, there are so many verses that remind me of why prayer is so so important. Sometimes I feel like it’s all I have left. I need that time with God because if I don’t, I go crazy. And this has been very apparent in the past few days. Struggles were getting real and I somewhat pushed God aside to focus on my problems and let emotions kick in, yet again.

When we convince ourselves that prayer isn’t necessary, or that reading the Word won’t help anything and is a waste of time, we are being foolish. How could we possibly think that we do not NEED God?

I will never be able to go through my life without Him. And I never want to experience His absence.

Keep praying. Keep reading. Just keep talking to Him. He wants to hear from you. He wants to know your struggles and worries. So tell Him! And take comfort in knowing that He CARES and wants the best for you.

Here is my prayer for the day.

Lord, I know that you know all. Everything you do is for my good. But sometimes it is hard to believe that even through these painful situations you are present. You can and will turn these trials into something beautiful. Lord give me the strength to keep on believing and staying positive throughout my struggles. Please let me be a light for my children. To not only uplift them but to be their support and rock as well. Help me focus on You instead of my own worries and insecurities. They creep up and get a hold of me, when I really should just be trusting You with all of my heart. How can I doubt such an amazing God? How can I be afraid, scared, or  worried? You created this earth. You control everything that happens. God, you are in complete control of my life and everything that surrounds me.

Forgive me for my moments of doubt and weakness. Please help my faith in You grow instead of my worrisome spirit. Give my spirit rest and please remind me that You are in control.

Calm down momma. Gods got this. Take a deep breath. Gods got this. Good will come at the end. Good will come.

“For we know God works ALL THINGS together for good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28
