I have such fond memories of decorating as a kid. While my dad hung the Christmas garland anywhere and everywhere around our house, my sisters and I would be unwrapping an endless amount of breakable ornaments and decor all while singing “All I Want For Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey. It was tradition, what can I say. It was our family thing. And I loved it. Still love it to this day.
And now I get to start decorating with my own kids. Now that they are old enough to unwrap things and pick the perfect place for the sparkly decor, they are such huge helpers! And what really makes it awesome is that they genuinely like doing it. Some kids might look at it as a chore (my kids did every previous year!) but now they are excited about it! YAY!! Made mommy’s day 🙂

Okay, so I’m going to give a big shout out to Pier 1 Imports. No this isn’t a sponsored post, but they do get some exposure here. Most of my decor comes from there. I worked there last year for a while and got uh-MAZING clearance pricing on beautiful decor. I miss that place sooooo much!!!!! 🙁 Of course my paychecks went straight back to the store! LOL.
The sprigs shown above are actually supposed to be inserted into a tree to add some whimsical, which would look super cute! But I use them in my vases to add some sparkle to my mantle.

As for the Christmas tree, I never go overboard with this one. Since I have the kids helping me, we simply use ornaments we’ve collected over the years and throw them on! There’s no rhyme or reason, we just use the ones we love. I will at some point put some real effort into decorating a tree. But it won’t be when my kids are 8, 6, and 2! My 2 year old can barely control himself with the twinkle lights!
And finally, one of our other traditions in the Ruiz household is to decorate gingerbread houses. I will have a post coming up shortly highlighting the fun we had..
From my family to yours ~ MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
