Christmas in 2015 was nothing short of awesome, mainly because we are finally in our “forever home” that we just purchased last year! We’ve been renting for so long, it felt amazing to host Christmas in our HO– USE again! Last year we weren’t able to keep the tradition going because we were in such a small rental that barely fit my family of 5, let alone three other families.. It’s been a tradition for the past 8 years or so for us to host. And it was back on this year! Yay!!
I had fun decorating this year. Every Christmas I end up decorating by myself, which I don’t mind. The kiddos are a bit too small and my hubby hates doing it. So it’s up to me until the kids are old enough to climb a ladder and hang stuff! I have exceptional memories of my dad when decorating. It was the BEST. We loved doing it together and we all got into it and thoroughly enjoyed it. We would crank up the Christmas music and start unloading bins after bins after bins of Christmas decor. And I cannot wait until my kids can start doing this with me as well. Since I don’t have my dad anymore, it means a lot to me to have my family get involved and enjoy it. Because if their Grandpa were here, he would surely make them LOVE doing it as much as he did 🙂
I especially enjoyed doing The Elf on the Shelf for the kids this year. I tried to get ideas from Pinterest and be a bit more creative!
The food was delish, mainly because my mom was there to help cook everything. And my table was looking spot on this year. If I do say so myself! Since I am married to a Filipino and my kids are half, it’s nice to incorporate some of those foods into our Holiday meals. So we had lumpia and pansit on the menu, made by the amazing chef Charles. Aka, my husband. And we had WAY TOO many desserts for us to finish!
All in all it was a fantastic time with family to reflect on why we celebrate the season. Remembering Jesus and why He was given to us is something I don’t ever want my kids to forget or recognize. I thank God for everything He has given me and my family. I am blessed and loved by this God of ours. And even with all the craziness and insanity happening in this world, I know my God is stronger than everything and anything.
I hope you and your family had a truly magical season as well. Now it’s time for 2016. Let’s do this.
