Starbucks Holiday Cups

Is it just me or is anyone else sick of hearing about the “controversy” that is the Starbucks Holiday Cups? Here’s the deal, Christians everywhere are apparently upset at Starbucks and are boycotting the ever popular coffee joint because their holiday cups are plain old red instead of highlighting “Christmasy” symbols, such as snowflakes, snowmen, ornaments, santa, etc..

Okay, there’s a whole lot of wrong going on here and I have to get it off my chest.

Starbucks Red Cup

First of all, Starbucks has NEVER been pro-Christian. Ever. Since when is this news? They help fund planned parenthood. Doesn’t everyone already know this?? So why are Christians getting all hot and bothered over plain cups? Did you really expect them to say, “The King is Born” or “Jesus is The Reason For The Season”?! Uhm, nope. I never expected that.

Secondly, since when is Santa, ornaments, and snowflakes a sign of Christianity???? Seriously? As Ellen so hilariously put it, “yes, because those are all found in the Bible” Geez people…… I’m just shaking my head over here…

Thirdly, and what pisses me off the most here, THIS is why people hate Christians! THIS. Right here!! Do you all not see this? People are making fun of Christians and saying they are stupid and insane for being so completely idiotic about these dumb cups. And I have to say, I AGREE. You are turning people off here. You are making all the other Christians out here who don’t give a crap about cups, (ya know, because cups don’t define our Christmas or how we celebrate), look like morons. So thanks a lot guys! Thanks a lot for creating a bunch of stupid drama and negative images about Christianity. Because that’s exactly what we need right now. Pushing people away with our judgey mouths and stupid, overly sensitive thoughts about cups.

Have you seen the Joshua Feuerstein video that is all over Youtube?? People everywhere on there are making fun of this guy because he told Christians to take a stand and say their names are Merry Christmas, therefore forcing Starbucks to write “Merry Christmas” on their cups. This is just non-sense and taking things WAY overboard. And all he’s done is made everyone think Christians are a bunch of idiots.

One more thing to keep in mind, Starbucks still sells a TON of Christmas stuff in stores and online. Ornaments, cups, and did anyone forget about their “CHRISTMAS BLEND”. Hello?? They have a ton of items that say Christmas.

Instead of this, why are we not focusing on telling people about WHY we celebrate Christmas, or WHY we have so much joy in our hearts? Do you even have joy? You’re walking around complaining about cups when you should be walking around leading people to Jesus. I’m sorry, but please stop. Just. Stop. Can we as Christians just focus on loving God first and then loving others? Aren’t those the first 2 commandments that we are told to do? There are so many other things going on in the world right now we should be concerned about, not cups.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 ” Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.”
