Our Favorite California Coast Locations!
So as some of you may know, we recently had a week long trip to our favorite vacation spot, the California Coast! But this trip was special because I knew that I wanted to share the specific locations that we go on our little family excursions!
So here we go…. drumroll please! (I’m starting off with my FAVORITE spot)
- BROWN BUTTER COOKIE COMPANY- Cayucos, Ca (My all Time Favorite Cookie Joint)
When you walk into Brown Butter Cookie Company, you are filled with this sweet, scrumptious aroma that just screams cookies! The outside of this place is just as charming as the inside. The staff here are always so nice and helpful and are more than willing to hand you as many samples as you can handle. They mix up the cookie batches right in front of you so you can watch the process, and they assemble the packages right there too. So it’s very fun to watch. They have so many flavors and varieties of crumbly cookies, you will not have a hard time finding a favorite. My favorite flavors are original and citrus, my hubby’s fav is the honey, my kids love them ALL.
- Candy Counter- Cayucos, Ca
Not only does this place have an entire wall of Jelly Beans, they also have EVERY. OTHER. CANDY. imaginable! AND ice cream and coffee!! It is heaven on earth in this cute, little shop. We have to stop by when we make our Coastal visits! And you should too 🙂
- Elephant Seal Lookout- San Simeon, Ca (Perfect for Kids!!)
We go here with our kids every time we hit the coast because this is like going to an aquarium but it’s absolutely free and you get to observe these beautiful mammals in their natural habitat! It says the best time to view them is in late January, April, and October. However, we see a million of these guys on the beach no matter what month we go. And it is always so amazing!
What I really enjoy about this specific location is that they always have people there educating the kids, engaging them and asking questions about the seals. They thoroughly enjoy it and they actually come away learning new facts about the creatures.
- Avila Beach, Ca (Just a Gorgeous Beach)
I can’t really say much more than, this place is GORGEOUS. I am so sad to say that the pier here is officially closed off indefinitely due to a weakened structure caused by wormlike critters, which is incredibly unfortunate. But the town itself is stunning. The shops, the restaurants, the view. It is a must see destination and I recommend visiting it for a day and enjoying the view! (Also, shout out to MISSION PIZZA who has the most AMAZING Hawaiian you will EVER TASTE. Also, best customer service I’ve received in a long time!)
- Morro Rock- Morro Bay, Ca
Another one of our must see locations is Morro Rock. Not only is this just a beautiful, stunning rock that God has placed there simply for our enjoyment, it is a place for the kids to explore and learn. You can drive directly to Morro Rock, get out, walk around, and check out the bay in between the rock and Morro Bay. You will always see boats going by, people on paddle boards, fishermen, and even tour boats.
Morro Bay, Ca is a fun town that has some great seafood restaurants to taste test and quaint little shops to aimlessly wonder around browsing for hours.
I really hope you guys enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed writing it and getting creative with the pictures. I am a California girl and am always checking out new places that I’ve never been before. I will have many more travel posts coming up in my “California Travels” special summer posts. So please come back and check for updates featuring San Fransisco, Disneyland, San Diego, and many, many more locations!
