My Views On Religion
So this is a very interesting topic and one that I could probably go on for a while trying to explain.
I was raised in a Christian household. My entire childhood revolved around church and God. We were taught to love God, we became saved, and my dad was even a Pastor for about 5 years of his life before he became sick. With all that being said, religion was a huge part of my life.
To a lot of people, I think hearing the term “religion” just really turns them off. When people think religion they think “cult” or “crazy people who can’t and don’t think for themselves”. And in a lot of ways, this is what religion has become. A lot of following what people say instead of following what GOD says and what the Bible says.
There are roughly 4,200 different religions in this world. It can can get pretty confusing. Which one is right, which one is wrong? How do you know YOURS is accurate and yours is the one TRUE religion?
For my religion, Christianity, I believe God’s Word is Holy and that it was created by God through men who were used by God to bring his words to life for us in a book where we could listen and hear God daily, where God can speak to us.
In my life, I tend to take that word RELIGION, and not focus on that word per se, I want to focus on my personal relationship with GOD and only God. The first commandment states that-
“You shall have no other gods before me.” Exodus 20:2
I think some people tend to make there religions there gods instead of making God there actual god. They think that by following their religion without question is what’s “right”, yet they do the complete opposite of what God is actually commanding them to do, to follow Him and only Him. God never said, do whatever your pastor or priest told you to do.
“And He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Matthew 4:19
Religion has always been a huge part of my life, and it will continue to be until the day I die. God controls my life. He leads me, if I am open enough to letting Him take charge. And it is hard. But if I continue to trust Him, I know God will take care of me. Because I believe.
“For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11
[tweetthis]Let’s focus less on “religion” and focus more on GOD. That’s where our hearts should be.[/tweetthis]
