Time For Mommy To Get Fit

I don’t know what it is about motivation that gets us off our butts and actually makes us want to DO something, but it does. Over the years, my husband and I have gained some weight and just haven’t been able to fully shake it off. For me, I keep getting preggers, lol. So ya, can’t exactly diet when you are carrying a baby! And my poor husband gained weight as well with every baby. I guess having a wife who ate everything in her path rubbed off on him in the worst possible way!

Time To Get Fit!



The motivation I am talking about is actually events in my life that always seem to come up to where I think to myself, “man now is the time to lose this weight!” We have a lot of family weddings coming up this year, which means lots of pics, lots of reuniting with family, lots of traveling and having fun. I want to feel good about myself again and be able to relax and have fun!

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to sound like I put a huge importance on looks. I DON’T. I love my body in all its stretch marks, thunder thighs, muffin top glory. You know why? Because I’m a mommy. And my body changed so that I could bring my little dumplings into this world. There’s nothing I’m more proud of. What I’m saying is that I take advantage of events we have coming up and use that to push me to wanting to lose the weight. It’s MOTIVATION!

Keep in mind, this is not something I am saying you have to do to have a fulfilled, happy life. You do not have to be skinny. You do not have to have a models body, like that would even happen! I’m not talking about being “skinny”, I’m talking about being “healthy!” There’s a huge difference. Being healthy is something you can be proud of and encourage your kids to take part in as well.

I think it’s a lot harder for moms who have recently had kids to keep their weight steady. I went from being thin, to gaining 50 lbs., then thin again, then gaining 40 lbs, then thin again, then gaining again, you get the picture.. It’s not steady. Mommy’s weight goes up and down because our bodies are constantly changing!  And it’s extremely hard to always want to pick the healthy choice when that baby inside is screaming ICE CREAM, MOMMY!!!!

We recently got gym memberships and we have been going for a week. I’ve gone 4 times already! I know that’s not a lot. And I know that it takes 30 to form a habit. And believe me, I mean to make this a habit! I spend an hour and a half just sweating. It is hard work let me tell ya. But after only one week, I can see a small difference in my body! My arms feel a little smaller and a little harder, my butt feels rounder and stronger, my legs feel smaller and firmer, and I honestly cannot believe it.

We have also changed our diets drastically. No soda, no sweets, no anything that isn’t healthy! We have been eating crazy amounts of fruits and veggies and I also use 1 meal replacement drink a day to help speed things along. Women tend to have a harder time losing weight then men. I have lost 4 lbs so far and I am hoping to get down another 7. Once I’m there, it’s all about toning.

I swear, I don’t know what it is about joining a gym, it definitely motivates you to go, you’re paying for it! As a mommy who spends all day taking care of her three kids, it’s nice to have an hour and a half to take care of myself. In turn, it’s going to make me a better mommy who can spend more time running and playing with her kids..

Just a little motivation for you. If you aren’t part of a gym or exercise regularly at home, maybe you should think about making that switch. There’s no better time than today! Find something to motivate you. Is there somewhere your going soon? Is there something important you’re doing in the near future? Use that event as the finish line and get moving!!

Update!

After habitually going to the gym for three weeks now, I have lost a total of 7 lbs. and am now back to my PRE-PREGNANCY weight! I put on my favorite pair of 7 For All Mankind Jeans that looked way to small for my eyes, and they fit! I am so happy and am excited about continuing this healthy journey. My husband has lost over 10 lbs and is looking amazing (like always). Follow along on our journey as I continue to post updates and healthy recipes.
